3 Republicans qualify for state Senate District 9

Two state representatives and a former county commissioner have qualified for the Jan. 9 special election in north Alabama’s state Senate District 9, according to the Alabama Republican Party. State Reps. Brock Colvin, R-Albertville, Wes Kitchens, R-Arab, and Stacy Lee George, a former two-term Morgan County Commissioner, will vie for the seat held until last week by Clay Scofield, a Republican from Guntersville.
